"Cobalt Coast Resort has come a long way. As the islands newest
oceanfront resort, we opened our doors in December 2000 and I can honestly tell you that it is a great feeling
to welcome guests back, some for the third or fourth time. In the world of clichés, a hug from a guest on
their way out to the airport or a postcard to one of our employees is the icing on the cake."
Arie Barendrecht is the Proprietor of Cobalt Coast, also referred to as the owner, operator and handyman extraordinaire
of Cobalt Coast!
Drawn to the tropical breezes, warm clear waters and laid back lifestyle of the Caribbean, Arie retired to Grand
Cayman in 1994 after a 30 year career in the tourism and travel industry. A career that started onboard a
Holland America cruise liner in 1963 and culminated in managing a major hotel in the city that never rests, Las
Vegas à after all that he deserved a well earned break and where better than the beautiful Cayman Islands.
Arie did not stay retired long though. His conscience insisted he put his years of experience and creativity
to work, so he bought land overlooking the ocean in the most peaceful part of West Bay, where the parrot fish can
be seen grazing off the coral, and the sea fans wave gently in the water just a few yards offshore. It was
heaven on earth, and the ideal place to build a small resort with its one of a kind uninterrupted view over a perfect
sea. He named it Cobalt Coast Resort.
Arie is never happier than when welcoming guests to share his dream retreat. He states that his goal is for each
and every guest to remember their stay at Cobalt as a special experience. Visitors are encouraged to
email their questions or special requests about the resort or the onsite dive center in advance so the Resort staff
will be well informed to ensure you have the best vacation ever, whether you are an avid diver, a snorkeller or
just taking it easy!
